Its Shocking to know that no Social Impact Assessment have been made before construction of the Murum dam that is now near to its completion. Only after the Penans and Kenyah community that will be affected by the construction of the dam staged blockades demanding for authorities to explain the status of the promised resettlement plan. This is the second dam in the area after Bakun dam and have started its construction since 2009, however the SIA is yet to be published. The first notice was only publish in local news papers in Sarawak few days ago.
Reacting to this SAVE Rivers issued a press statement demanding for transparency in development of the proposed mega dams in Sarawak.
